Every crossing to the East Frisian Islands sails under its own flag: AG EMS to Borkum, Reederei Norden-Frisia to Juist and Norderney, Baltrum-Linie to Baltrum, the municipality of Langeoog, Nordseebad Spiekeroog and Schifffahrt und Inselbahn Wangerooge (SIW). There is therefore no common tariff - and no shared logic about what a ticket includes. On Borkum, Langeoog and Wangerooge the island railway is part of the fare; elsewhere there is no railway at all.
The tables below are dated snapshots of the published fares. The binding price is always the one shown at the booking step.
Borkum from Emden and Eemshaven
Foot passengers have a choice of ticket types. Day tickets cover the outward and return journey on the same day, while holiday tickets allow a flexible return on any day. Children under 4 travel free and children aged 4 to 11 at a reduced rate. Dogs need their own ticket; bicycles and handcarts travel on the car ferries for a supplement.

Fares from Eemshaven are slightly below those from Emden - the crossing is shorter and the harbour charges differ. For travellers from western Germany and the Benelux countries the approach via Eemshaven can also be quicker; note that Eemshaven is in the Netherlands.
Catamaran. The high-speed catamaran from Emden carries a supplement of around €14 per person each way (about €7 for children). A return trip costs roughly €79 in Comfort Class and €89 in Captain's Class. Bicycles and vehicles cannot be carried, and places are limited.
Vehicles. Cars up to 3.5 t are charged by vehicle length: around €49.50 per metre for the return trip from Emden, about €44.60 per metre from Eemshaven. Vehicles over 2 metres high cost slightly more. Passengers travelling in the car need their own tickets, and a reservation is compulsory.
Bicycles and luggage. A bicycle costs about €19 return from Emden without the island railway and €24 with it, roughly one euro less from Eemshaven. Hand luggage and one suitcase per person are included; additional luggage costs about €15 to €16 per item.
Visitor's tax. The town of Borkum charges day visitors aged 18 and over around €4 per person (as at 2025). When booking online the amount is usually included automatically.
Langeoog from Bensersiel
All prices are for the return journey and include the island railway from the harbour into the village (as at 2026):

Groups of 16 or more get a 20 per cent discount, and can order up to four weeks before arrival. The maximum luggage weight is 30 kg. If you want to take the first ferry at 07:15, hand in your luggage the evening before.
Wangerooge from Harlesiel
Ferry and island railway are a single ticket, and the price always covers both legs. For overnight guests the return trip was around €43 per adult aged 15 and over, with children aged 6 to 14 and dogs at about €26 each; day visitors paid roughly €34 including the visitor's tax (as at 2025). Checked luggage costs about €9 per item and parking at Harlesiel harbour around €7 a day. The Watt Sprinter runs to its own schedule for a supplement.
Juist, Norderney, Baltrum and Spiekeroog
For these four crossings we deliberately publish no fare table: the operators grade their prices by season, ticket type and vehicle length and change them during the year. An amount typed out here would be wrong sooner than it would be useful.
What can be said: to Norderney, Reederei Norden-Frisia charges separate fares for adults, children aged 6 to 13, dogs, bicycles and cars by vehicle length; children under 6 travel free. To Juist the same structure applies without the vehicle items, because the island is car-free. On Spiekeroog one piece of luggage per passenger is included in the fare, children aged 4 to 14 travel at a reduced rate, groups of 20 or more pay less, and booking online usually gives around 10 per cent off. To Baltrum there are separate fares for the regular ferry and the fast ferry.

What else you pay
Visitor's tax. Every island charges one. On Borkum it is usually included in day visitors' tickets; on Norderney it is paid on arrival at the terminal via a QR code on the ferry ticket; on Spiekeroog it is settled with the return ticket. Keep your outbound ticket safe.
Parking on the mainland. Because five of the seven islands are car-free, the car park at the feeder harbour is a fixed cost for most travellers. In Emden a day at the Borkumkai costs around €8, on the car parks further out €6 to €7; in Eemshaven about €6.50 on the open-air area and €7.50 in the multi-storey car park (as at 2025). At the smaller harbours the parking time is usually billed by number-plate recognition.
Luggage service. On the car-free islands a luggage service brings suitcases from the jetty to your accommodation. On Langeoog that costs €10.50 per item delivered to the door; Spiekeroog and Wangerooge have comparable services for a fee.
FAQ
Is there a single ticket covering several islands?+
No. Each island is served by its own operator and there is no ticket spanning more than one island. To visit two islands you book two separate crossings.
Do children travel more cheaply?+
Yes, everywhere - though the age limits differ. With AG EMS to Borkum, children aged 4 to 11 pay half price; to Langeoog the child fare applies from 6 to 15 years. Infants usually travel free.
Is there anything to pay on top of the ferry fare?+
Every island charges a visitor's tax. It is not part of the ferry fare, but depending on the island it is either settled when you buy the ticket or paid on arrival. Parking at the mainland port comes on top of that.
What does it cost to bring a bicycle?+
That depends on the crossing. On the car ferries to Borkum and Norderney bicycles travel for a supplement; on the fast ferries and catamarans usually not. To Langeoog a bicycle costs €26 and a pedelec €32.
