About us

faehre-ostfriesland.de is an information site about the ferry crossings to the East Frisian Islands off the German North Sea coast. The subject of the site is the crossing itself: which mainland port belongs to which island, how long the passage takes, when the ships sail, what a ticket costs and whether you can bring a car. The site is written for travellers planning their journey to Borkum, Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog or Wangerooge.

We answer two questions. The first: which island fits the way I am travelling? For that, all seven crossings are set side by side with their port, crossing time and the car question. The second: when does my ship leave and what does it cost? For that there is a shared timetable covering every route and a fare overview for each island.

Until August 2026 each island had its own website. We merged the seven sites here because the islands only make sense in comparison: without the neighbouring island it is hard to say whether an hour at sea is long or short, or why tomorrow's departure is at a different time from today's.

What this site is not

faehre-ostfriesland.de is an independent guide to the crossing, not an official booking or ferry company site. The ferries are run by AG EMS, Reederei Norden-Frisia, Reederei Baltrum-Linie, the municipality of Langeoog, Nordseebad Spiekeroog and Schifffahrt und Inselbahn Wangerooge. Nor are we an island travel guide: sights, hotels, restaurants, flights and car hire are deliberately left out. The focus stays on the ferry crossing and everything that belongs to it.
